  Transfer Domains

Normally, once you register a domain you can usually change host as often as you like. You can either have your domain registered and be hosted by one provider or have a separate registrar and
web host. Domain transfers occur when domain owners are not happy or satisfied with the services of their current host. The process is easy and to transfer domains usually takes about five to seven days to be completed provided that the domain names has been unlocked and available for transfer.

To initiate a transfer, the owner must first sign up with his current choice of hosting company who in turn will send an e-mail containing a link to an identity verification page. Once the domain's rightful owner is confirmed and verified, they will contact the current registrar to request the release of the domain. The present registrar then will send an e-mail to the domain owner and after the latter verifies the letter, another email will be sent to the domain name owner for confirmation of the transfer.

When the transferring of domain is finished, the transfer will be activated within seven business days after which the owner can start updating his domain information with his new web host.

If the present registrar is NetworkSolutions, Register.com, or Verisign transfer should take place within the 45 day time frame before the day of expiration of the domain.

It must also be recommenced at the present registrar before the start of the transfer request. Dot CA domains can be transferred even if they are suspended.

The other domains like dot com/biz/net should have at least 30 days before the expiration date. If the dot ca domain name transfer involves a monetary transaction, one may acquire an escrow service which is a safe way for both current and new dot ca domain name registrants to do transaction.
